He is currently being referred to as the 'Red freckled Night Eel' on account of the fact that he was found at night, shortly before i was scared witless by a rebreather diver who snuck up on me and is red, with freckly markings. i am going to have to research several more books, - he isn't in the first 3 I have. I think Helmut D ought to be notified that his book has some stuff missing.

| Can't help, had a look in my coral guide to the red sea and no joy. I will plump for a baby red sea white spotted moray. Pure guess though. |

| Sounds like a good trip there..... I'm guessing a Juvenile Yellow Headed Moray. Check the similar head shape and nostrils.... ![]() Nice pics btw. TaM Edit: on second search, Eric looks more like a Juvenile Yellow Margin Moray - heres an adult.......same bulge at the neck etc. ![]() Last edited by Tunicates : 10-03-08 at 11:11 PM. |

| But Yellow Margins are big, and the one in your piccy looks pretty small, so I'm revising my guess to a juvenile Yellow-Speckled Moray ( also known as the white spotted moray Gymnothorax Punctatus. Grows to 90cm, and is brown with yellow speckles. Gymnothorax punctatus, Red Sea whitespotted moray: - from the Collins reef guide and fishbase Last edited by Tunicates : 11-03-08 at 11:15 AM.
