Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Have just returned from a short 5 day diving break in Playa Blanca. We had never considered Lanzarote before but as we were restricted to traveling Wednesday to Sunday the choices were the usual Tunisia (never, ever again), Malta (possibility but been twice before) and Cyprus (dived it to death). I must say that I will definitely go back again. We rented a private villa as it had it's own heated pool and I need to keep non-diving wife topped up with brownie points to leave me 3 days diving. I used Rubicon dive centre based at the harbour. They pick up anywhere in the Playa Blanca area. The centre is right next to the harbour wall so by the time they pick you up at 8.50 you are on the Rhib on the way to the first dive by 9.20. Much better marine life that anywhere in the Med IMHO. Angel sharks, Rays, Nudibranch, Stone fish, Barracuda, Grouper, Octopus on the FIRST dive!!!. Back to the centre for coffee and buns for a surface interval and then back out for the second dive. Much of the same things to see. Back to centre for hot shower and more coffee then dropped back to villa by 1.30 for rest of day round pool. This system works very well and would always use Rubicon from now on. So in summary I would definitely recommend Lanzarote, Playa Blanca, Rubicon Diving and the villa we stayed in (the details I can give if interested). That's it

I dived with Rubicon last year after a recommendation from YD and they do have a top set up!

The coffee and cakes between dives really is a bonus!

Chris and the gang have got it right with customer service and their position right next to the harbour, with only a short stumble to the Rhib is fantastic!

I love it when places do 2 dives in the morning, which means you can spend time with non-diving friends and family all afternoon, and still get a couple of dives in!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as I did!

I stopped by their place last June and was quite impressed with the set up

I was only in Playa Blanca for the day though and did not dive

I was diving with Calypso at Costa Teguise and they are also a very good set up, and i have to agree there was much more and varied sealife than i was expecting
