Great report Chris. It is somethign I have always wanted to do (well, for 6 years, anyway!), for the time being, it will have to stay on the to do list though.

Lovely pics too.

Oh... and the hood... should I just call you Hannibal?

The camera isn't that big - it's just that I am very slim

(Wolfgang was using a wide angle lens and that's what does it)

Thx for sharing
I think the kelp does most of it's growing in the summer. The ice is only around from February to mid- April.

Thanks for the comments - actually you should see the 200 cone-jelly shots I didn't post In the end, the only way to do it was to get Mark to shine my HID from under the jelly. This took quite a bit of practice as we were tied together by 3 metres of rope. We increased the rope length between us to 5 m and this helped a lot. It does reduce safety, but a compromise was good enough to allow me a bit more freedom with the camera.

Cheers, Chris
