That was me and I dont know how the F*** you thought I was baiting you or Scubee in any way

I was pointing out my better half's pink tanks boots and wasn't taking the piss out of you at all and I'm glad I didn't hear what you said back

Having dived and even been a trip with you Garf I'm suprised that you would think I was taking the piss as would any other YD'er that knows me.

Having gone out of my way last week to deliver a set of twins to GLOC your DIR team mate it just goes to show how narrow minded you are thinking that all people are anti DIR.

I have never met you (that I can remember) before. I suspect there are hundreds of people I have been on boats with that I can't remember. If the comment had been 'Hi Garf... what do you think of these bloody awful pink boots then' we would probably all had a laugh about it. But by bringing the agency into it, you intorduced the streotypical box that DIR divers seem to find themselves in. I am a PADI instructor no-one has ever yelled across a carpark asking me for my agencies view on anything... Just like many other divers, I don't care what colour the boots are, just don't put them on my twinset.

No I have never met you before Scubee and I can't for the life of me work out how Garf thought I was taking the piss out of him. I didn't really want to interupt what Garf was going through with you yesterday, so a throw away comment from me about my better half fins being pink and not very DIR isn't exactly attacking DIR is it.

Having dived with quite a few DIR divers in the past and trying it myself on a try 'DIR' trip out of Portland I'm quite suprised at Garf's response. The reason I didn't go DIR although owning all the kit was basically I hate diving in a 3 and thats it.

I guess Garf didn't recognise me then even though we shared a B&B last season on one of warmwater weekends away

I feel quite angry that Garf feels everyone is against DIR divers but from his attitude in this post I can begin to see why

I'm sure he will be along to give his own view, but my take on it is that if i go anywhere, I am referred to by name, whether it is my real one, my YD one, or some other term of ..ahem.. endearment. My agency doesn't matter. Theirs seems to matter more to those outside than to them.

I am sorry you feel aggrieved, and no I didn't recognise you, which again I can only apologise - I am shit with faces. My point on the day was to ask Scubee when the last time was that some hailed her across a carpark to get her PADI opinion on something. Whilst your comment was obviously good natured, they are not always so, and you'd be amazed how often people just initiate exactly that in order to basically bait me into acting like a DIR stereotype.

So apologies if you feel aggrieved, but I hope you can see my perspective. In this case I was obviously being over defensive. My bad.
