Anyone dived Umkomaas in South Africa?

I am being sent to South Africa for work next weekend. It is a Bank Holiday there and I have been invited to dive in Umkomaas with a couple of my colleagues.

I know one specific location we are doing, Aliwal Reef, but does anyone know what I can expect from both the area and the Blue Vision Dive Centre we're going with?

James

You'll be diving from a RIB. There's a small river there, so the launch through the surf normally isn't too bad. Aliwal Shoals is a rocky reef. The viz ought to be good and there are sharks there are different times of the year. Probably a bit early for the raggies though.

No idea what the dive centre are like.

James,

Have not dived with Blue Vision, but have dived there some years ago. Umkomaas is a sleepy little seaside town, couple of pubs but not too much!

Diving Aliwal Shoal is fantastic, probably see Ragged Tooth Sharks (AKA Grey Nurse Shark) rays, dolphin and if you are very lucky a whale! The trip out will be quite entertaining, as the ribs crash through the breakers!

Produce and Nebo are great wrecks!

Ah, The Produce was mentioned but someone mentioned that conditions are not right to dive it very often apparently?
