Trip Report Taba

Me and the missis went on our two week summer holiday during the half term holidays. This was supposed to be a Non diving holiday, but after snorkelling the house reefs i had to go diving. We stayed at the Movinpick, which is next to the Hilton in Taba. Not renowned for the diving, but the house reefs deserve a dive. My favorite was the reef between the two Hotels. The Hilton reef has been destroyed by the bl**by russians standing on it. They did day boat trips, but to be honest it would probably have been more of the same. Off to Sharm in October on the wrecks tour so cant complain lol.
Water was a bit cold at 21 deg C, and vis was variable. The sea life was excellent, attached are some of the photos.

Hope you enjoy.

Pictures Later in thread

Thought i would add a few more words and pictures to this thread.

There are 4 reefs at the Movinpick / Hilton resort. Ranging in depth from 15 to 30m. The visibility wasnt great past 20m, but better than the UK. The house reefs are teeming with life, and for the non divers the house reef between the two Hotels is excellent. Very little current was experienced on any of the dives.

Favourite

Hilton reef opposite the dive centre.

The staff at the dive centre were very helpful, spoke good English. The one downside is thet the equipment is not great, so if your going to do a lot of diving take the essentials. I had two dives where my main reg continually trickled air, the fins were a joke. The BCD were new so no issues there.

On the last of the 6 dives we dived the Hitlon reef nearer to the Movenpick, the guide was new and got lost, eventually we got to the reef lol.

In terms of the Hotel, the Movinpick is a new hotel 2 years old. Offered excellent accomodation, with very friendly staff. Both hotels have a dive centre, run by the same company.

The only downside to the holiday was the bug we and most of the other occupants at the Movinpick picked up see trip advisor. This appears to have resolved itself now, but did leave us feeling cr*p for about 5 days.

Still the weather was excellent even for April.

Some photos below.
