My first channel dive!

Our local dive club had organised a 'newbie' dive on the shallow wreck (25mtrs) of HMS Brazen especially for members who'd not been in the channel before. Each of us newbies were buddied up with an experienced diver. There were three boats going out in the end, 2 ribs and the hard boat 'Neptune'.

anyway its so different in the sea compared to the lakes, obviously, seeing the wreck was so cool even though i didn't really recognise what was what i was looking at! we saw plenty of fish and several star fish. it was weird thinking to myself 'I'm at the bottom of the English Channel' lol

I really can't wait to get back out there.. I'm not really sure about going out on a rib yet... we were kinda spoiled on the hard boat with having a lift to get us out the water as well as a lovely hot cuppa and sausage rolls as soon as we de-kitted

Glad you enjoyed it, the Brazen has been on my to do list for a while.

Hope your next wreck dive isn't too far away and ribs are fun but I much prefer a hard-boat, must be my age

Safe diving,
Steve

Great to hear you had a good dive, Neptune is a great boat to dive from and Brazen is a great wreck. Hopefully fingers crossed with the weather we should be out on it next weekend. I quite enjoy diving from the RIB...but must admit I do prefer the hardboat.

Hi

Glad you enjoyed the day, HMS Brazen was my first Dover dive way back when she was perfectly intact and upright on the seabed, i passed you all as you were getting ready to go as we were out on another boat. My first dive this year was on her as well in Feb

The viz is usually better than you got there as well, the plankton bloom has cut it down quite a bit at the moment.

There are some pictures and some more history about her here:- Canterbury Divers - Wrecks
