Martinshaven has the distinctive honour of my only ever shore dive.

Visibility well under 1m, strong surge and surf, nothing seen except kelp and rocks. You could only tell where the bottom was when you felt for it.

20mph wind and rain.

Dive time, 23 minutes.

OK, after driving 120 miles to be told no boats were going out the shore dive seemed a good idea at the time. Im in no rush to ever repeat a UK shore dive as a result though.

Hey String you must have been unlucky weather wise

Done Martins Haven a few times, granted in calmer conditions The better dive is if you keep to the left of the haven well into the shore, with SMB away from the day trip boats quite a swim. drops off to 20m plenty of life.
Also well recommended for a night dive when the boats have tied up.

I admit probably unlucky, it was only done as the boats werent going.

The Skomer boat wasnt going anywhere so we dived the left and right side swimming across the bay (compass essential as couldnt see anything).

There is a warning sign that when the thing is running all diving to be done on the right hand side.

Log book entry reads "like swimming through milk", max depth 9.3m and 23mins.

May give it another chance at some point but my problem is, if the boats are going id rather be on them going further out of milford.

(hopefully tomorrow in fact!)
