Swanage this weekend

Going down with a few others to Swanage this weekend (30/31st July), but was disturbed to find out that the area is all 'carnivaled' up. It's also got a half marathon starting from the sea front!! Any advice from locals/regulars on how much this could screw up parking/moving around the town centre?

You are right this will screw up all the parking as well as the roads into Swanage will be blocked especially around Corfe Castle. May be worth going the back route via Studland and the chain ferry.

It is all you tourists !!!

Hmmm... got a chaos feeling coming on... especially as I'd not planned to be there 'til 10am!

it'll be busy for sure, but the fireworks display is worth watching! as far as parking goes, as always BE EARLY or be prepared to park and walk (the later you park the further you will have to walk)
the carnival parade itself is on sunday afternoon and the town centre will be shut off for a couple of hours but detours are put in place so traffic can get about!
so not really too much of a prob, but if you are booked to dive from a boat then it is worth thinking about leaving plenty of time to cope with any nause that may occur in the traffic coming into town, which i would expect to be quite heavy from about 0900 onwards!

Hey Mike,

He is on YOUR boat along with me.

We're setting off early so should be no problem.
