Conway area - site advice please

Having been blown out this weekend off the East Coast my buddy & I drove to Dottie from Leeds to get a dive in.

As has happened on a few occassions when driving to Dottie, we noticed that the sea around Conway was flat calm, when the East Coast has been undivable. This set us thinking about the area as a viable alternative, especially as we'd reached the area in under 2 hours from Leeds.

So, could anybody provide me with information on the area, such as info on wreck sites, launching facilities (or diving charters) etc. If it helps, we're looking at sites 30m plus.

Thanks in advance.

Rchard

Hi Richard,

If you exclude the <30m stuff you'll miss out on a lot of good diving

Weekends could be a problem, we tend to avoid the "deepies" as it's easier to fill a boat with non-techies or anglers over a weekend- much less stressful too!
We have One group who we allow to book Deco-dives at weekends- if they can't fill the boat they make up the difference and they pay £40.00 each for one dive. I can ask them if you can go on their reserves list if you like.

Thanks for the reply. So what's available shallower than 30m as well?! Are there facilities to launch RIBs on that coast?

Thanks again.

Richard

No! No! No! No! No! ... wrong question!
Just kidding, sort of.
Try SS Torch (angel wreck) charted 10.5m (IIRC) just off the Orme, launch alongside Colwyn Bay Pier (4x4 needed). 22m seabed at LW. It's a beaut.
