When we used to camp over, we used to stop at a couple of places along the A6 - between Bolton Le Sands and Morecambe - and used to turn up on-spec.

However, there's loads of B&B's in Carnforth - and I'm sure they'll be accomodating with dogs - just give them a call. I just put in Bed and Breakfast into Yell.com the UK's local search engine - search for UK businesses and there's loads.

We dived Capernwray in May and camped at Knight Stainforth Hall(01729 822200) near Settle, it's about 25mins from the Cape, good facilities and dogs are most welcome. There's a river at the bottom of the site with a waterfall that drops into a deep trough, a sign on a tree however states "No Scuba diving!"
