Chepstow (NDAC) Emergency assistance plan help

    Hello,

I have to prepair an emergency assistance plan for Chepstow for my DM Course. However due to distance and finances it's almost impossible for me to visit and plan. A few of the other DMT's have copied stuff off the internet however I don't want to cheat myself by printing something off the internet more of get assistance and gather info to complete one myself.

Can any of you guys help point me in the right direction or give assistance.

    Many thanks,
    Arron

the NDAC has a pretty good wed site. The plan will need to have entry / exit points, list of communications points, first aid points, local emergency contact points, local recompression facility and telephone. You should be able to find this on the website.

I did my EAP on Chepstow, not long after it first opened. As I recall, they were incredibly helpful when I gave them a ring to check some information.

    Cheers Liamm,

I'm probably looking to deep into it as I have been on the NDAC site.

    My main question is -
Is there a specific EMS landing or collection point?

I can see the rest however wasn't sure where the Helicopter would land in the event of emergency. Also what are the roads like leading up to the site?

    Thanks,
    Arron

There is waste ground on the level above the car park near the entrance point for a chopper to land ( they did so last Sunday)
Its not a dedicated landing area but it is within the site.

The site is just off a main road, the junction is on a bend with dodgy vis, but access is direct. Internally the roads are bumpy but EMS could negotiate no problem.

Yes there is. Its near the entrance gate (there is currently only one road in and out). Road access itself is fine (its A-road until the entrance then about 150m of rough dirt). Access isnt a problem.

Lots of an EAP is generic such as what to do in the event of certain incidents and can be site tailored fairly quickly then after arrival.

Other things to consider at NDAC. Firstly the car park to the quarry is reached via minibus travel so factor that little thing into a possible evacuation plan. Entry is via giant stride off a pontoon. Exit is via christmas tree style ladders onto that same pontoon.

There is a safety attendant on the pontoon (who CANNOT be relied on for HSE purposes though) but also alarm panic buttons down there which are linked via radio to the main buildings on top. Mobile phone signal at the waters edge is a little patchy but its better (but not 100%) in the car park. They do have landline telephones. Sadly, due to the rule changes a few years ago they no longer have a pot on site.

Its worth going to the website: NDAC Downloads Page and checking the "Site Rules" etc as well.

Edit:- I'd echo what someone has said above as well - give them a ring ideally on a quiet day like Thursday or Friday and ask. Ive found the staff there also exceedingly helpful and often do things way above what their job technically is to assist someone.

If you contact the NDAC direct they can give you all the info you need and will send out a copy of their emergengy procedures, which include info for heli landings.
