I have been in Florida for a couple of weeks. What makeover,I know that the parking is more organised, pay as you go in etc. What else is happening?

hope they all go well and it becomes a great dive site
smile and the whole world smiles back
Has dosthill got new owners?. Aint it owned by the same people that own Guildy?.
If so this could do with a make over to!!!!
As you stated the car park is now ring fenced to manage the parking better.
They have also changed the way tanks are stacked to be filled. A couple of weeks ago both the compressors went on the blink and they were offereing a discount on fills as they could only fill to 150 bar. Or you could hire a tank !!! never miss a trick to make a buck. I hear he has now purchased a new compressor but has said prices are going up. So I assume both entrance and air fills will rise. When Ian raised the price before there was a promise of improvements to the car park, a changing facilities ( this was to be the old portacabins from dive Inn and Liford lane, and new features in the water. The only new feature I have seen is a caravan on the back shelf so far. Oh and the new map they now display on their website. Have to say it looks like a child has put it together as a school project![]()

I regularily dive Dosthill friday nights £5 for a cheap chill out after a week at work.
If they increase the price too much I may need to think again as other sites offer more interesting diving / facility to train.
TBH I (personally) wouldn't use changing rooms. Portaloos are a shitholebut I guess we can put up with them. Proper loos would be better. I would prefer to see money spent on the 20m area having the copious silt sucked out of it as the vis at the back is usually good. The army has offered to do this in the past (I've been told) but cost of disposal of the silt is the issue. Vis is only bad at the front as that gets the bashing from diver volume and also there is about 2m of silt to kick up.
After they sucked the crap out, I would put the entry at the 8-10m shelf side (not 20m as current) - better vis, less silt that end - there is a road there too and an area that wouldn't be too expensive to clear.
Also I would like to see an open train carriage or something else bomb proof in the 20m area instead of the vans and caravans that quickly fall to pieces / get obliterated by underwater vandals.
The regime has changed and it is more organised and regimented which is probably a good thing, but personally, I didn't have a problem with Sid or Paul - they did a good enough job within the resources available. I dont think anyone was fired. It's not nice to say that about people unless you know for sure.
Dosthill has always been alot more friendly than the likes of Stoney. I hope they don't lose that. I also think that without the draw of a properly stocked shop, permanent facilities and dive attractions, they will struggle if they try charging similar prices to Stoney.
