Photo & Video weekends

Should have posted this in this forum

Would people be interested in doing a photo or video course during the winter months? Although you would be learning in the good ole’ British cold, it is like diving itself – learn it in demanding conditions and then when you’re abroad in clear warm water it’s a piece of cake. I’m thinking of running a few weekends with lessons that cater to both beginners and those looking to improve their work.

On the photography side we can cover a complete explanation of how and why photography works, both from a technical as well as an aesthetic point of view also understanding what all those numbers on your camera or flash mean and what it is trying to do when you expose an image. Both digital and film will be covered and Nikonos and housed camera systems used. We can provide the cameras or you can bring your own.

The video would be working with Sony Broadcast DVCAM systems – PDX10 & PD150. Although they are high-end systems, they allow you to understand the camera controls and manual settings that affect the image. As well as the technical/camera control side, we will also cover basic camera work – framing and composition – exposure – lighting – focus and importantly communication underwater. Once again you could bring your own system to work with.

Each weekend would cost £120 per person (for the two-days) inclusive of film and tape used; obviously if we use somewhere like Stoney or the NDC then you’d have entrance charges and air-fills on top.

Let me know if you’d be interested.

Re: Unisured Flooding

Ah Bazza,

Don't worry mate, the secret is to make sure you have an "unexplained flooding" clause in your insurance policy!! Yours probably keep flooding cause they're rated to 60m while your banging them around in 80m!!

Look forward to seeing you.
