| Shark attack captured on film By Catriona Davies (Filed: 21/10/2004) In pictures: Shooting wildlife Doug Perrine's heart must have quickened at least a little as he snatched the picture which last night won him the coveted title of Wildlife Photographer of the Year. His image captures two sharks charging towards the camera at the moment they snatch a mouthful of prey from a vast shoal of sardines. Mr Perrine, from Hawaii, was chosen from 18,500 entrants from 50 countries and Roz Kidman Cox, one of the judges, described the picture as "a moment of great impact caught in a single frame". Gabby Salazar, 17, from North Carolina, was Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year for her shot of a camouflaged lizard. Pictures in the competition, organised by the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Natural History Museum, will be displayed at the museum These pics are stunning: Sea Pics Doug Perrine Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Sorry John Gulliver for only getting back to you now. Yes: that link is the winning photo - although I've only seen it in a different relief in B&W, and the bottom of the two GW's comes out better than in the colour photo; although that may just be the BBC's representation of it here.
