Winter project for your camera housing
Having been present and seen two cameras lost (but recovered) and one lost totally, here's something I had in mind for my own setup so that my camera could be clipped to my BC. I thought it might interest other YD UW photographers as it wouldn't take a minute to modify this so your camera was solidly attached

I can get any amount of ally plate and will post it for cost of postage. I will even get them to cut it to the right size for you. PM me if you want some.

Question
Hi Steve....

I'd get a lanyard with a flex in the middle and problem solved you never need to unclip it...... Thats how myself and sister secure our cams (both digi and film)

If you are using an external strobe... then I'd use a sea&sea or similar base plate.......

What housing do you have?

Good idea Steve, I always try and clip the camera onto my left pull down strap of my BCD as I can then put it under my arm when not being used, apart from one notable exeption. This was a night dive in the Northern Red Sea and I thought it was clipped up and all, put the camer under my arm and when I went back for it... It wasn't there! Thankfully it was my backup MX5 which floats and I could see it bobbing along at the surface...

The PT-015 comes with a wrist lanyard for one side (as lots on here know already) but as I've seen first-hand, such things aren't sufficiently secure for my liking. I'm planning to have mine clipped left and right onto the BC, that way my wrist is kept clear and there can be two points of attachment.

Could never understand how you guys could even think of just using the wrist lanyard! Far too scary...


Anyway, we put a coiled lanyard onto the place for the wrins lanyard and will be attaching another strap before the RS trip to double up the attachment too. I might try and fit that on the screw hole for the tray.

I'm hopefully going to be looking at something similar over the winter, mainly so I can attach some ikelite arms for a strobe...
