my piccies

these were taken this summer in Santorini in Greece...
I think they are ok considering the camera i was using is the dx3100 aquapix from sea and sea...and i'm really not pleased with the camera itself...no control over settings and doesnt handle lack of light very well at all which is very useful for a dedicated underwater camera...yeah! (can u tell i'm annoyed yet?)..
aaanyhoo here's my little effort from the blue waters...

santorini photees

i 'll upload some uk ones in a minute...

it's easy in the clear blue though don't u think?
i just think that the aquapix is a little 'my-first-camera'...and they market it 'for the serious diver' ...grrr!

here's my uk attempts...

they just lack the crispness i see in other peoples photees

Well, they're a lot better than many of the digital pics I've seen. I don't think you need be too disappointed. You have to remember that it's really just a point-and-shoot camera, the digital equivalent of the same company's MX-5.

the problem is that for a 3.1 megapixel camera the quality is not there...my boyfriend's canon ixus V, 1 meg produces better quality...
i'm dissapointed with the electronics that's all
it seemed like a good deal at the time we bought it...built in macro and filter, only wide angle was extra buy and we could take it on/off underwater... it's the technology that it lacks......and the fact that it eats batteries like there's no tomorrow
oh well, guess i'll have to save up again (and possibly consider selling a kidney ) to get something better

kpj saw the sea in a book once
Thanks for posting the pics from Santorini.

Ive been to Santorini twice and did my Open Water there in 2001 with the Mediterranean Dive Club, which was just down the road from where
we were staying. After my OW, I did my first boat dive near the volcano.
I can still remember that dive!! I was very nervous but well looked after by Magda, the dive leader!

Wonder if you have seen Tombraider 2? They were filming that when we were there and I believe the RIB in the film belonged to the dive club.

Wonder who you dived with? I think there are a couple of dive clubs there.

Thanks for bringing back some memories!!

Ken

Nice pictures. The limitation in the uk is the viz and amount of available light which is why the santorini ones are so much better. I love the one of the silouetted diver in the jet fins with the sun behind. The uk ones are fine though.

If you have a problem with battery life, have you tried some higher milliAmp hour Nickle metal Hydride ones? The difference could be a lot if you arent already using decent ones.

Doug, u saw them at Claire and Ash's BBQ ...the DVD i had!
Julia, thanx for the info on batteries, i'll try them. the jet fins are force fins tho (the other half will be annoyed )
Ken, we dived with Santorini divecentre...but Magda was one of the dive guides...maybe they've changed names? Was Pavlos the owner? The RIB on Toombraider did look suspiciously familiar...who knows?

thanx guys
