Fantasea housings - any good?

Hi

Has anyone any experience of Fantasea housings? They appear to be much cheaper than Ikelite - is there a reason for this? Was thinking of getting one for a Nikon Coolpix 3100...

Cheers

:-)

Fantasea housing

I have just bought the nikon coolpix 4300 and the fantasea cp-4 sport housing and i have to say that yes they are alot cheaper than others, but i have used it twice now and the housing is fine had no problems with it at all, and they offer a years flooding insurance cover when you buy it. i would recommend as it's always an option to upgrade in years to come after using this housing first when getting used to the photography side of diving.
Cheers lee

we bought one

we bought a fantasea housing for Bethi's nikon coolpix. It seemed ok and although not of the same build quality as the olympus housing that i have for mine , it certainly functioned well and didnt leak. It didnt access all the controls on Bethi's camera and you had to turn the camera on before putting in the housing. so i would check outthat aspect before buying. We had some initial hiccups with the ordering process via the USA agent. I would recommend dealing direct with Howard in Isreal, he was very efficient once he got on the case. aLthough the prices seemed good, once you paid about 20 quid ofr postage and packing and then import duty it turned out to be not as cheap as it looked. All in all I would expect an ikelite housing to be top notch quality at a premium price but these fatasea ones work well and i understand that the warrenty against leakage is honoured as others have posted about this on the USa digital divers web site.

I have the cp-3 housing. I figured it out how to switch on the camera when it's in the housing. I could have got photo's of those dolphins. Grrr!

Housing

I got mine from Jessops when I bought my Coolpix 4300...

THREE housing's later....

guys just keep an eye on the catch, the first one broke when I got it home. The second broke in the shop and the last one is OK up to now.

Could have been a manu' fault, but now I'm real careful opening and closing it.

John
