Video editing software, Help

This is probably the best forum to post this on. I'm looking at upgrading my video editing software. At the moment I've got Pinnacle ver8 quick start which came bundled with a analogue to digital converter. Now I've got a mini dv camcorder and originally was going to upgrade to Studio 9. Have just read some really poor reviews of V9 concerning constant crashes and problems with DVD burning I'm looking at other options.

Anyone have any advice on the different software products available?

Cheers

Ted

Pinnacle V9

Ted,

I've been using Pinnacle Studio for about 4 years now and I've found that as long you keep up to date with the patches it works fine. I've been running V9 since it came out and I've found no problems with burning DVD's or editing content. The only thing I would say is you need to ensure that you have enough RAM (512m minimum) and seperate h/disks one running your OS & applications and one for the video files and lots of disk space. I use three disks in my PC with a total of 500 gig.

Saying that if you Studio a bit limiting for functionality you could always step up to the Liquid Edition (£200 upgrade IIRC).

HTH

John

Yep, what John said - I use V9 - everything's up to date, 1Gb of RAM (very cheap nowadays), tons of space on on separate drives, good as gold.

I have used both Pinnacle and Premier Pro. Pinnacle is very simple and easy to use, premier is very powerfull if you know how to drive it.

PM me if you want a ahem, backup copy

Smile Pro or Avid

Hi, As I work with these every day I would say that if budget allows then go for Avid Express pro, fantastic bit of software however if you do not need professional standard then go for Premier pro as this would give you an easy to learn professional quality piece of equipment with plenty of add ons as you progress, Just make sure you have plenty of Ram and Hard drive space.

If you would like to try both of them then give me a PM
