Talking Spend My Money!!!

OK - I have £300 and I want to buy an digital UW camera. I am not looking for any thing professional or bulk - a simple holiday snaps camera. Things I have thought about.

I want a big memory card as taking my laptop with me on hols is not an option.
Dad mentioned something about not haveing a special battery pack - normal AA's etc would be best.
Would def prefer a camera that could be taken out of it's housing and used as a dry land camera too.
Idiot proof? (is there such a thing!!)

I've looked on the internet and confused myself a bit.(Doesn't take much!) I think I remember somewhere that about 3mpxls is about the same quality as a normal film camera - is this right?

I'm a bit confused y the whole thing about camera and housings being in separate places - thus I think I@ve found a nice camera and the housing isn't available! So I ended up with the option of a Sealife Reefmaster DC310.

I like the fact that the buttons look HUGE. Its bright orange so i won't lose it! and it's rated to 60m. Most of the others I notice are only to 40m.

So anyone got one? Anyone got a better option?

C'mon - go shopping without the guilty consiouns (man I can't spell!)

get several smaller memory cards rather than one big one

then if anything happens you don't lose everything

Wink

You could possibly get a Olympus MJU410 and a PT0-16 Housing, I find it very easy, It uses the XD cards so a plenty of sizes. I think it has 4m pixals too. Great underwater housing. Just a suggestion.

You can definately get an MJU410 and housing - I've just got one.

www.cameradepot.co.uk offered the best combined price (£270) I could find and it includes next day delivery.

I recently bought a Sony Cybershot 7.2 Million pixels in the maldives for £280 + £ 125 for housing, we got some really good photos with it, both on land and underwater at 40m, I have not seen anything else in the price range with the same number of pixels

I second the sony cybershot and housing - easy to use camera both underwater and on land although when I bought mine it only had 5 million pixels! Would advise relacing the strap with a good lanyard as it seems a little flimsy to me - or you could just give me the money and I could buy a drysuit see you wanted someone to spend your money for you - I'm so helpful!

definately recommend anything sony that you can get an underwater housing for the memoryn cards are cheap as chips for the smaller non pro types and if you have the urge to spend big later on memory cards they do a 1Gb memory stick pro ,that is a lot of photos.
