Pics from 'The Virgin's Crack...'
Here are some pics I took this weekend while visiting the Lofoten islands here in Northern Norway. One of my favourite divespots is the set of skerries called the Virgin's Crack. Three cracks in the rocks you can swim through, some places it's so narrow you really have to squeeeeeze to get to the other side.
The pics were taken with my new Epoque DCL-20 W/A and I'm very pleased with how it worked. Of course I'm still a novice but I thought I got more the hang of it after a couple of dives. I had the camera set to Mymode and beforehand I had a saved whitebalance option clicked against a white spot at 15 meters, giving the pictures a truly red tint. Better to have too much red than none at all. The rest went on automatic and in Photoshop I just had to change the levels and curves a bit to get the feel I was looking for.

Coming out of one of the crevices there's a dropoff giving a "sharm-feeling".

Had to wait a bit to get the right posture with HP's mask giving the right reflection. And of course I couldn't exhale since he was above me. Not good dive-pracise..

As you can see the crack lives up to its name...


Of course there's life in abundance. The pelagic fish are difficult to get right in photographs so I tend to stick to the rather slow-moving ones

There were literally thousands of these nudiebranchs.



Thousands of these too. In some areas they've eaten too much kelp, but in general I'd say they haven't done much impact



Er.. just a Starfish.
