advice on Sony DVD camcorder

Hi all,

going on a trip in Jan 06 and want to do some vid and stills stuff. Never done this stuff before. I have been looking at the new Sony DCR-DVD403E DVD camcorder, it seems like a good idea to put what I take straight on to DVD for easy transfer to PC for editing. I know that you can get the housing for these.

Any body got one/used one? got any idea on lighting etc for it? How good the photos and vid are etc??

Jason

i cant tell you about the Sony, but I have a Cannon MV700 and an Ikelite housing and find the combination brill. I am no expert, but it gives good qual. film, and using Pinnicle Studio is easy to edit. I do have the light pack aswell, it has a 100W lamp.

I remember reading about this type of camera and it seems that the downside was the short recording time of the disc. I think this was typically around the 30 minute mark compared to 60 minites on DV tape. That put me off the idea.
