Hi Rich,
I've got the Oly housing & a sea & sea strobe,trays & arms etc.
I'm in desperate need of a case to protect it all, and just wondered what other people used. I am slightly bothered about buying the wrong one even after measuring everything, 'cos everything I get has to be mail order.

(& I'm running out of time to make the last post to Santa!! )

Chris

Hi,
For transport around the UK I use a padded Low pro bag which swallows the 8080, Ika Housing, Ds 125 and arm + all the bits.

Cheers,
Paul.

its only a matter of time i would not buy another housing off olympus ever again the idiots managed to lose mine this week even though it was sent special delivery i had to send it in because the little tiny lugs that hold the port on broke off, and you have to wait over an hour in the phone queue system.
any one reading this thinking about going didgi then save up and get a nikon

Hi,
Any particular one? they do so many.

I've just started with the C8080, & I'm having a nightmare with it!
(all part of the joy of learning)
It started with backscatter but a strobe sorted that. Now i'm trying to reduce the shutter lag, I bought a small spotting torch 'cos I was led to believe it is caused by the auto focus "hunting" but it's not really made any difference.
Off to Kiel in a couple of weeks so I picked up a tripod, I reckon tripod & nightshot on a wreck might just help.
Any thoughts?

Chris

I was thinking about getting a dome port conversion for the Oly housing but now I'm not so sure!

Hi Chriz,

The bag according to the label is a Magnum 35? Got it off E bay.

Shutter lag you are stuck with [IE the time between pressing the shutter and the camera grabbing the image].

I have found using a modeling light [ on the housing rather than the one built into the strobe] and setting the metering and Auto focus setting to SPOT, so it is looking at the target marks rather than the whole image Helps auto focus especially in low light.

Kiel UMMmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Enjoy!!
HTH,

Cheers,
Paul.

Right now i have managed to sort out my old Oly housing.

<rant>
I had a the oly 8080 housing pt-023 managed to loose one of the plastic lugs which the front dome locked on to. Not a design fault at all.

Sent it back to olympus waited a month. Got it back opened it up and it was still the same. Nice old olympus. Sent it back waited another two months.

Lucky for me Digital Depot felt sorry for me and sent me a new one.
On ebay the same day. </rant>

At the start of the three months i bought an ike housing and wished I had done that first. £400 spent which seemed like a lot, but it is built like a brick and comes with TTL flash connector and a bracket which is great after the pt-023.

With regards to carring it about I have a £20 plastic box with crocodile lid lined with foam cut to fit the ike housing (but i am a cheap skate!)

The good thing about Kiel is that it is absolutley free!!
The accom, food, ribs, fills alll supplied by the tax payers, thanks very much!
(I would appreciate it if you could all fit a bit of overtime in, as I'd like to go to Chuk next year!! )

I'm a bit gutted about the Oly housing reputation, I've just bought what I think is called a TTL converter as well! I'd better start looking for an Ike housing!
