Ika DS 125 Electronics?

I have a secondhand Ds 125 strobe which i use with an new Ika housing and [blue band] sync cord with my 8080. [well happy with both]

If I chose to switch the strobe from TTL to Manual for a shot and then back to TTL more often than not the camera stops sensing that there is a strobe there. Turn off both strobe and camera for about a minuet and all is again good

Now i sent all this off to ika quoting the housing serial number and what i believe to be the strobe number.

The response from Ika, 'the ds PROBABLY needs an upgrade to be compatible with the 8080 housing'

Ive seen and red on Ika's web site [and elsewhere] a page about ds numbers and upgrades required for full TTL compatibility. Can I find any of them today, can I heck!

Anybody got this saved or a link?

Am not looking for a fall out with Ika [if it needs an upgrade it needs one. END OF] , its just that the word PROBABLY sets bells off!!!!!!!.

Cheers,
Paul.

Paul,
Sorry don't have the link. Sounds like you might need some indepenent advice. Try phoning Cameras Underwater or Ocean Optics (not sure if Alan James deals in Ike). If there isn't a sale in it, you might get proper advice.

strobe

I bought a ds 125strobe with slave sensor and arm off ebay £470 with postage, was miss quoted the serial no had to get it up graded it is near £200 for the upgrade it has to be done in the USA more postage than any thing, although it came back nearly new only the bulb thing came back the rest was all replaced, any way if u take the battery off the serial no should be stamped there. have a look on the camerasunderwater.co.uk.check out the serial no. see what upgrade u need .
If the no is under 2500 think ur in the shit if between 2500 to 4999 u r ok just have to wait 5secs b4 the next pic.
hope this helps Ken see u on didgegreen

Cheers guys!
Rob you have a point!
Its Odd.
My strobe number starts with a 1 but shooting TTL the strobe is quicker than the camera.

Its when you start to fiddle things get interesting!

Cheers,
Paul.
