Back scatter removal in CS.

HI EVERYONE, I THOUGHT SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE INTRESTED IN A GOOD WAY TO REMOVE BACK SCATTER IN THE EDIT STAGE. THIS IS FOR ADOBE CS BUT I AM SURE IT WILL BE ALMOST THE SAME IN OTHER EDIT SOFTWARE.

Select history brush 1st in the pallet.

Then open a picture from a file.

Go into filters and select Noise then Dust/Scratches.

Set the pixels to 40 then click ok, the picture will go fuzzy but don’t worry
about it.

Then go into window and open the history. You should have 3 boxes, the top one will be your original picture then an open box and then Dust and Scratches.

You then click the empty box in the dust and scratches. This will drop the
history brush tool icon in the box.

Then click the open box, it will go blue and you will be able to see your
picture again, it will not be blurred.

You can then use a brush to paint out the backscatter in the photo as you see fit.

Works really well have fun, Ian.

I use the 'heal' tool in CS which does a similar thing. However, doing removing backscatter to an image with more than a few 10's of blobs becomes very tedious and boring. Good luck!

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

OK - tried that nothing happened
Being a dummy with CS, could you do a step-bystep with screen shots of which bits to click on (select) I must have selected the wrong thing.

Thanks always useful to have alternative ways.
For big bits of odd backscatter I use the clone tool taking the colour etc from near the point I want to cover. Gloc has said its tedious if there is too much and I agree and wouldnt bother but occasionally on the odd photo if its just a single image in the pic just by touching up round the border of the image is enough to improve it for personal viewing.

The clone tool is a great tool but takes ages, using the history brush you can do large areas of negative space very quickly. Use a large brush for the main areas and then zoom right into the picture and do the tight areas with a smaller brush. You can tidy up the whole picture very quickly. I have attached two pictures one untouched with really bad back scatter and the same picture after I edited it. I removed the back scatter with the history brush I used un sharp mask and then enhanced the clolour with the colour balance in images. I think quite a poor picture ended up not to bad with a bit of playing. Im sorry im not sure how to attach the screens from CS, try to give it another go all the steps are there, sorry again. Ian.

The "print screen" button will copy the current screen to the clipboard which you can then paste into an art programme and save as a screenshot.
