Rechargable Batteries

Hi folks...

does anyone know what the max power rating is for rechargable batteries in a YS90 strobe?

Also, does anyone know what the drain is like on recharagables? is it a slow power down like a normal battery, or is it full power till they die?

cant comment on rechargeables in the strobe but most rechargables will have full power then suddely die....you dont get much warning so important to keep them charged ....although this can effect the overall life of batteries if they are repeatedly charged when not completely drained......hope that helps

Usually rechargeables will cycle faster as they can provide more current, but the number of flashes available is less.

The characteristic for both Nicd and Nimh cells is to deliver full grunt for their rated capacity and then just die suddenly, alkalines will typically show longer and longer recycle times before they give up.

Total capacity will depend on the cells that you use. AA cells can be had up to about 2600mah in Nimh these days.

They will be dead before most charges.... I'm getting sick of carrying 100+ batteries on my hols (twin strobes on my camera). Now that I have the facility to shoot many more shots I intend to (generally) make as much use of it as possible!

I reckon I can get roughly 90 shots out of normal batteries before they become useless...
