About a week after downloading this I found a virus on my laptop. I cannot say for certain that it DIDN'T come from this source as I did not do a scan straight away.

If you have up todate virus protection you should be ok.

Come on Neil - I`ll have the strobe (and batteries - thanks for the pm).

oi... twin strobes if you please.... so I tend to keep most colours (Well when I get the exposures right!)

There seems to be an assumption that with film no matter how you develop and process the results will always be the same. Of course this is all nonsense, photographers have always chosen the film, the paper, printing conditions and darkroom trickery to get the print that they want. Take a set of negatives to a range of high street printers and compare the resulting prints to see the variation you can get.

Given that each digital camera and sensor will 'see' and process and record an image differently why wouldn't you want to modify the image to get what you want? If you shoot RAW then you have to process the image file.

It surprises me that people still try and take some 'illusionary' higher ground by not processing. All a bit silly really.

I understand what you are saying, but there are pics where editing tools are used to make a dull photo into a stunning one... I used to think this not so (much to learn!), but I've seen it done.....

Even with my digital SLR I tend not to mess with the images if I can help it.... probably through a lack of knowledge on my part on how to use PS CS but I dont understand why people have to change the settings with a raw image?

Yes I do as well. If you want to be a purist...fine but I'm with Hopper. Basicially you are manipulating an image. Now you can do this before you take the pic by the settings/filters/lights etc you use or afterwards..... cant see a lot of difference myself except what some die hards see as 'traditional'. However there is a limit, such as putting things in that arent there! ..unless of course its obvious or done for a particular effect.

What i do a lot of is cropping sometimes just a tiny bit, but sometimes I can cut away half the picture if its a super duper macro shot and I just want to show the texture and patterns of something. I've got some that I'm chopping up this evening so I'll put them in the gallery tonight or tomorrow.

Hi Neil

Doesn't it describe it below?

You could always create your own action from the list below the photos.
