Umm .. Advice (I think)

Can't think of a proper header
I take loads of photos with my 'happy snap' Olympus mju500. It has a fully automatic underwater macro setting & landscape mode. I am not overly impressed with the results - can't re-set white balance & no RAW mode. However had a look at a review of the Oly SP350 on camerasunderwater and that has some downsides too - slow focus & write speed. I don't really want to splash out over a grand for a housing for my DSLR so advice..
Do I start playing with manual settings on the mju500 - and if so has anyone used it that way, or
get a camera that does manual white balance & RAW (maybe the older 5050 or Oly SP350) or
get a strobe
or.......

Andy

We had similar problem, the more you read the more confused you get, each camera has advantages and disadvantages... so what to do... well we went for an olympus 5060 from luton cameras (http://www.lutcamre.demon.co.uk/Shop...al/Page01.html) reconditioned ex demo models from olympus... honestly when it arrived it was brand new in pac... very impressed. Also, bought an olympus housing to go with it, brand new rrp just about everywhere else £170 - we paid £ 88

Give them a shout, their knowledge and service is top notch....

but you are right.... most likely get the same results with the cameras - we spoke to cameras underwater at lids and they said that most pics will improve with use of red filter whereas if you listen to advice on here and diginet they are conflicting btwn yes it will and no it wont... confused??? I know I am...

Tried a red filter ... hmm... mot convinced, Photoshop is just as good. The main problem is lack of all colour at depth.

This is what my eyes say at depth too.
The camera tells it like I see it.

I have a flash on an arm on my mje400/410s
