| Out of curiosity what is Adobe Premiere Pro like to use? I have just bought a, probably dodgy, copy of Ver 1.5 off Ebay. I have never edited any video before so expect a rather steep learning curve! Jim

| Depends if you have used Adobe Photoshop before? Some of the layouts and icons have similar meanings. You definitely need a large screen or twin screen as there is an awful amount of information to try and display. I didn't have any experience of APP before but I have managed to get a couple of semi-decent clips together. There are loads of tutorials available online or using the APP help file, which is very comprehensive. Have fun, you will burn time and disk space very quickly.

| Have used Photoshop a little only. I have a feeling some upgrades might be required to my desktop. I've not done much to it since I built it 4 years ago. Will have to see what limits the motherboard imposes on me and get a second hard drive. I upgraded my 15" LCD to a 17" but still have the old one knocking around. Need to see if my graphics card will support two monitors. Jim

| You might need more than just a memory upgrade, the processor might not cope either! I tried to install it on a desktop with a gig of ram and a 1GHz Athlon processor, the program installed but would not run as the processor did not support 'something' (which I can't remember). I now run it on my laptop 2.8Ghz P4 with 1Gb Ram, 40 Gb HD. To convert 3 mins of video with soundtrack into a wmv file takes 20 mins using a twin pass! My next desktop will be much more powerful to cope with this. HTH

| If I remember right I put in an Athlon 1800+ processor, 768MB DDR RAM, 128MB GE Force AGP4x graphics card and an 80GB HDD. I think I might need to upgrade the lot! Jim

Likewise, I have been using APP but with less success. i find that with a mix of photos and video the renedering seems to drop frames and crash the program. Now I guess (or rather 90% sure!) that this will be something to do with how I have the settings but not worked out how to do it right yet: a long process when the rendering takes so long (even with 2.8ghz, 2gigram, twin 17inch). I think the problem lies somewhere in the difference of screen size resolutions between stills and 5060 video, which then gets set to the video default size. however, just a guess. I think, like you I am waiting for inspiration: doesn't answer your question but at least you can draw stength from the fact that you are not alone! |
