Diving helmet camera coming soon
I have just been sent some early information on a new video camera system for diving:-

Here is the information I have so far - I will post again when I have the full information and where to get it.....

".....a new Scuba Helmet camera and minirecording system that is good to 100 metres in depth. the complete system does not need special waterproof housings as it is all completely waterproof and has the correct filters on the front lens to make sure your pictures are correctly white ballanced once your filming below the surfdace of the water.
The mini recorder a little larger than a packet of tic tacs with a colour screen and records a full PAL video signal, the NEW Scuba helmet camera is a 1/3" Sony CCD colour camera, more tech specs in a few weeks..."

Sounds interesting - and the price seems good too - "....The units will sell for 650.00 UKP..."

I'm ever hopeful and trusting of technology.

The price sounds great and I think I'll put one on my Xmas list to 'Santa SWMBO' .... if they are any good.

Surely this will only be any good for work in the shallows or the clearer oceans.. The size of the objective lens will be tiny - therefore the amount of light let into the unit wont be very much. Therefore you will need some form of lighting rig..

Sounds very gimmicky to me..

Of course - I am probably wrong..

Just found a bit more out about the system....

"MINI RECORDER WATERPROOF TO 100 METERS NEW TECHNOLOGY RECORDS A FULL PAL QUALITY VIDEO ON TO A 4 GIG SD CARD AND YES FULL 720 X 576 PAL RESOLUTION VIDEO AND AUDIO.
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO QUICKLY VIA USB TO YOUR COMPUTER AND EDIT THE VIDEO AND AUDIO STRAIGHT AWAY UNLIKE THE MPEG4 RECORDING MULTIMEDIA RECORDERS."

It is coming from a supplier of extreme sports camera equipment so I think he will not be selling rubbish - its using a Sony 1/3 inch CCD camera
