Dependant on what features/articles you may be planning it might be worthwhile supplying this kind of info to photographers ... in my experience about 80% of images came form freelancers with only a few staff writers/photographers to keep overheads low..

Anyway good luck with the magazine..

Mike
Thanks for that Mike, I will bear you in mind....

Hi Simon

1) I wrote an article recently that I will be putting on my website - when I get round to working on it

It talks of my early experiences and why I did my DM and stuff

If you have an email address I can email it over and you can take a look

2) I also have loads of images that I will be putting on my website - when I get round to working on it

Is there anything in particular that you are interested in

Some of them are very very good IMHO ;o)

3) Will you also be covering new products in the market - I have something I'm sure will be of interest to you

Venus

Thanks Venus...please mail me and we can talk about your welcome input. Deadline for the first issue is just around the corner, so get back to me soon...the address is on StokieRIchs reply (thanks Rich). I would be interested in the item that you say is a new product as well. We will have a media pack available for advertising at the end of this weekend.

You can get in touch with me about photographs for your magazine.

If you check out my web site on the photo pages you will find a few thousand images deicated to mainly UK diving. Many dive publictions and dive schools already use some of the images.

I have gained merit in competions and this year gained overall winner in the sports diver magizine 'Photographer of the Year', and also runner up!

I had already had some details about your venture from Gary at the Rez.

Please give me a ring to discuss further., as i'm not picking up emails very offten at the moment.

cheers

Sounds like an interesting idea, Simon. Out of interest, what's your expected initial print run and what distribution channels will you be using? What's the expected page count, colour/mono and editorial/advertising ratios likely to be? Will the magazine be a subscription-only thing or will we see it on the shelves of our local WH Smith? And, of course, how much you intending to charge for this asteemed publication?

And - as BJ said earlier - if you want quality content, you'll have to get used to paying for it...

Hi, and thanks for your support...

Initially a run of 5,000 is what I am targeting, UK release, but international is planned. WH Smiths are being approached for distribution, although I doubt they will take it on in it's infancy (I may be surprised!), full colour 100 page glossy, running what most mags do to pay for it...advertise and infotorial, around 40% is what I am trying for. This is unfortunately unavoidable, but I am mindful of the fact that is a necessary to keep things financial. It is surely the only way forward to get payment for articles in the longer term. We will get a subscription happening on the web as well, and have some good friends in great dive shops that are happy to help as well....I want to try and keep it to around the £3.00 mark even if I can per issue, and it will initially be bi monthly, so I can catch my breath a little from being a Sales Manager of a big and busy hotel in Manchester, a Diver and a Magazine Director/Editor...
