Rainbow Trout - Vobster Quay...

Flushed with success after my dip at Lulworth Cove on Sunday, I took my little Canon IXUS 65 in for a dip at Vobster today and managed to snap off this little beauty...

Beautifully framed with an interesting background - I do like this shot!

That'll be the reason they call them 'rainbow' trout then...

I have to say that for a little 'toy' camera, the IXUS still continues to amaze me! For anyone considering a really nice all round compact digital camera, you won't go far wrong with one of these...

Bloody hell, Jason - that top one is flippin' excellent!

The side on one doesn't do anything for me really - looks like a stuffed fish, and no depth to it, but the first shot has it all, with the 3/4's pose and the reflections of the ripples above.

Be chuffed!

Off to Vobster on friday with JB2Cool. Think he wants to try out his new housing so see if we can find the trout!

By the look of the pics, the vis doesn't seem that bad either. Not been there myself, so can't wait.

Excellent pics BTW.

The vis is very good in the top 10 ft or so, then it starts to get a bit mucky. If you aren't in first thing Saturday morning...

For the trout, take some bread with you, they love it!!

Oh yes, cracking shot the top one Jason...

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Yep - agree totally, Lou. The first shot just has so much depth to it - it's almost like one of those images that you had to view with 3D specs to get the full effect. Love it - very pleased.

Shouldn't be too hard to find the trout - just drop in at the quayside and you'll be surrounded by them! Best way to photograph them is to just drop down a metre or so and just hover - they'll come to you. Of course the beauty of digital is that you can just keep snapping away. Sooner or later, you'll get one stunning image that stands out from the rest...

As Gareth says, you can 'bait' the water with bread to bring them in but the real problem with that is that the water tends to get very 'cloudy' very quickly. Here's a couple of images I took last year using a friend's Nikon F90x with dome port - as you can see, the water has gone very cloudy...
