People keep showing me two or three-year-old cameras that have stopped working and tell me that it is cheaper to buy a new one than to send it away for a repair.
That doesn't surprise me. The problem is that stuff is so 'miniaturised' these days that it's simply not cost effective to replace a single component on a circuit board so they tend to just change the whole board out instead. Such is the joys of large scale integration of components on surface mount circuit boards - it brings the mass production costs down and makes things really compact but is a bugger to repair!

I purchased a Olympus MJU 600 last year from cameras underwater and have got some extremly good results, video is excellent, however there is no microphone, so Im thinking of upgrading to the MJu 700. With a 1GB card you can get 45 mins of video or about 1100 excellent quality photos, bored everyone silly on return from Sharm last year, and touch wood its been to 45m and still works.
GFood luck in your hunting.
