Thumbs down FEP Light and Motion Camera systems

I purchased a UW housing about 2 years ago + a camera which tool the total amount to over £6K. I purchased UW housing of Welcome to Fish Eye Productions LTD.

The camera has not worked properly since the day I bought it, with countless trips spent trying to work around the key problem which is, whilst it is rated to 200 metres, it does not work properly below 15 metres.

Other members who have used the camera on my behalf report the same problem. It has been sent back on several occassions and still it malfunctions.

I have recently been told (after sending camera back again), that it has loads of problems, back plate electronics on wrong, the springs were defective etc.

Fact is, I have wasted money on countless trips, and whilst I would like to sell it, I am still not comfortable that it will not fail again and would only do so with strong support from FEP that any issues would be dealt with and warranty aggreements extended.

FEP have had plenty of oppurtunity to resolve the problem, but after 2 years of literally no affective use, I feel I am within my right to warn members of buying a camera from them given the experiences I have. Its alot of money to shell out for a camera system that does not work as stated.

I right this with complete awareness of my responsibilities, and can stand by comments. It is not my intention to use Yorkshire Divers to my own end, this has been going on for 2 years, and I have kept it to myself and those who have seen the defects for themselves. Unfortunately I am in a situation were I can't use something which I paid for DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE SELLING IT.

Alan,

This is a horrible story. You must have a comeback given that the equipment is certainly not "fit for use". I'm not very sure of UK legislation, but I know that there is an equivalent to our Sale of Goods and Services Act, as relatives in the UK have had to take action in the past.

I have heard (only anecdotal) stories about L&M housings in the past, and it put me right off buying one.

I hope it all works out for you.

Until it was stolen, along with all my other stuff, I owned an L&M Mako housing and lighting system. Apart from a few issues with the lights not working correctly the housing and monitor back always did. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience but I know of several other L&M users who seem to have no issues.

Bluefin Housing

Sorry to hear of your problems with L & M/FEP. I bought my bluefin 950 earlier this year (March). I've had no problems with the housing or monitor, but i've had issues with the lights, i.e. batterys not holding charge and intermittant connections in the wet connector leads.

I'm a regular to a website called wet pixel. It has quite a few L & M video users on there who are mainly american/overseas users. I've found that after following lots of threads, that the two 'big' electronic housing manufacturers (i.e. amphibico, L & M) both have issues in some guise. I guess it's the old story of electronic housing vs manual. No doubt all Gates housing users will be feeling smug now.

I must say though that the staff at L & M have always been very helpful.

Have you ever visited the shop in person. You can get a long way when its face to face....
