Yeah, let's let someone else try them out before buying, though - I suspect the III is more than fast enough for pretty well all current cameras...

this is important since your camera might be limited to writing to the card.

I tried a SanDisk extreme III in my camera, because RAW/uncompressed TIFF images of 10mb were taking 20 secs to write on the SD cards I had. The extreme III was no quicker in my camera and would've been a waste at the £110 RRP.

* this was one of the cards that had a USB connector embedded, so you could plug it straight into a USB port without needing a card reader.

the best place i have found is picstop.co.uk, just bought 2 CF 2GB extreme 3 cards for £50.90 bargain!

As far as I am aware there is no camera on the market that can write faster than the extreme 3 can cope with.

May be too late

but rather than spending a fortune on big memory cards have you thought about a storage device??
I've just bought a Jobo Giga one from Digital Warehouse. 40gig memory and accepts just about all card types direct into machine (I use xd cards!)
So long as i have a card with enough memory for the dive/ project etc i just transfer the data from card to machine, erase the card then start again.
This also means i don't have to take laptop on holiday.
This advice FWIW may only really apply to xd card users as the cards are more expensive in the first place, i got the machine for £100, a 2 gig Fuji card is £180!!!!

Just my 2p worth!

I'm in the trade, try this place it's only a couple of £ more expensive than I can get it.

Memory upgrades, graphics cards, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com

And it saves all the hassel bidding & overseas dealers.

Another thought...

If you have a Ipod try the Ipod camera connector £19 and you can then download you camera into the Ipod.

Including movies, I downloaded 8Gb on my last trip to the Maldives. Saved a fortune in memory sticks.
