OK - so I decided that I wanted one of those Ikelite DS-125 strobes + slave + tray + arm etc. Buying in the UK via the net would have cost £1000 !!

I eventually got one from BH Photovideo in New York via the net. Cost including FEDEX etc was £630. It arrived within 3 days and was in perfect order.

Some advice for others planning the same - expect a VAT bill. Mine arrived today for the princely sum of £124 (VAT + Import duty)

Total spend = £754, by my reckoning I`m still £250 ahead of the UK supplier.

Would recommend the approach !!
