Unhappy My olympus is sick........

Hiya does anyone know of a good camera shop around the manchester area that I can take my camera to.

The selection wheel is lose and needs fixing (or if anyone knows how to fix it).

Any suggestions????

(also just as an after thought how do you convert movies into windows media-for some reason they've been recorded into a format that my computer doesn't like)

I sent my US bought one directly to Oly, it's buttons on the back had stopped clicking as firmly as they used to.
They turned it round really quickly and honored the warranty even though the camera was bought abroad.

there's a shop in Manchester City Centre called London Camera Exchange, they seem pretty knowledgeable, although it's hard to get folk to work on digital camera's as they are supposedly uneconomic to repair/get spares for (a good excuse to sell yo another one methinks...) - they are on Picc Square by the bus stops

Turbie's idea sounds pretty good, if the warranty still stands then phone them in the first instance

Send it back to Olympus. They fixed mine for free about a year after the warranty had expired.

Video conversion sw

Hi Helen, can't help with the camera problem I'm afraid but for video conversion I use a program called SUPER which is free to download and use.
" Supported input source file formats are:
- Video format: 3gp/3g2(Nokia,Siemens,Sony,Ericsson) asf, avi (DivX,H263,H263+,H264,XviD,MPEG4,MSmpeg4 etc..), dat,
fli, flc, flv (used in Flash), mkv, mpg (Mpeg I,Mpeg II), mov(H263,H263+,H264,MPEG4 etc..), mp4(H263,H263+,H264,MPEG4), ogg,
qt, rm, ram, rmvb, str (Play Station), swf (Flash), ts (HDTV), viv, vob, wmv"
I presume

Before trying to convert though, have you tried VLC Media Player ? Another free to download and use multi format media player. I find that it will play the majority of videos.

HTH

The .mov files will play in Quick Time which is free to download (as long as you don't get the pro version). Hope your camera gets well soon !
