The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby is well written and contains all the techniques you would probably need, there is also a book by Martin Evening, Adobe Photoshop for Photographers, though this is more technical but goes into much greater depth on things like colour correction. Best wishes John

Both are very good and cover lots more than you'll probably ever use. I prefer the essential skills book, as it's a little more focussed on producing certain outcomes, and the shadows and highlights section I've found quite helpful. Alternatively, there's a couple of diving specific books out now- Digital Imaging for the Underwater Photographer - Jack & Sue Drafahl this has some useful sections on using photoshop tools to correct and touch up images. I believe they now have a specific photoshop book out, which looks the same, and a quick skim through this looks like it's worth purchasing. An Essential Guide to Digital Underwater Photographer - Michael Aw lots of good reviews for this when it first came out, but it's really small (127pages) and a bit thin on detail.

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but does anyone know of a similar guide for The GIMP? For those of us (well.. me) that are too cheap to buy Photoshop. Tom

Photoshop editing Hi ya, well best ideas to start with are to open each image then select image tab on top of screen down to adjustments, then auto levels and then auto colour. this should bring back the colour nicely. Then if you fancied you could try a filter . . noise . . dust and scratches Try a few and see how you go, if you need to clone areas or remove unwanted people or add in things then prob best to get photoshop for dummies etc.. hope this helps
