John, I suggested a 60-70m range to be on the safe side as far as waterproofness goes...I don't think I'd actually dive to that depth with a camera as I'd have plenty of other things to be worrying about. I suppose 30-40m range would be perfect....any ideas re: camera for that?

I'm a film camera man, use a MotorMarine IIEX, but this camera/housing combination @ £375, preferably with the Epoque strobe, seems to be very popular among people seeking an economical digital camera package  http://www.camerasunderwater.co.uk/d_stills/olympus/pt016.html

The Sea & Sea DX-3000 is rated to 60 metres.  I think it retails at around £450 now for the camera & housing.  It takes all the same lenses as the MX10 so it's not a bad system for those people upgrading.
