Just got me a camera + housing (Fuji F30), and was thinking about how to carry it. I've seen far too many flapping around and so don't like the idea of it just dangling from a D-ring, so was thinking a neoprene pouch on my waist belt would be a good option (for when i'm not using it - when I am it'll be clipped on somewhere else).
Anyway, I was just looking for one, and they don't seem to exist!
What i'm looking for is a compact digital camera sized pouch (apparently 13x10x10cm according to the spec), which is horizontal in orientation, with a big velcro closing (don't like zips), is "soft" inside (i've seen some with really sharp stitching / edges inside), and with a belt loop to slot it on my harness.
I thought a mask pouch might be about right, but the only one I found with sizes on seemed to be a bit narrow. They're also usually vertical, and i'd prefer horizontal.
So, with a guess that "proper" camera pouches don't exist (never seen any, found any, or heard them mentioned), are there any companies out there who will make custom neoprene stuff for a reasonable price. Based on the price of drysuit pockets etc (which are far too big for this, unfortunately) i'm thinking around £25 max for one would be about right - or am I way off for custom-made stuff? Otherwise i'll have to make do with an oversized pouch... but would rather not because then it'll rattle around inside, and more likely to catch on things (half the reason I want a pouch is that i'm prone to inserting myself into small spaces while underwater and don't want to bash my camera along any wrecks / rocks).
Now, off to bed I go! Happy New Year all!
