| I have the same problem and when I spoke to Cameras Underwater asking what to do, they said they had never heard of this problem before.... So, I asked an electronics specialist what they used to clean circuit boards and he recommended IPA (Iso-Propyl Alcohol) which I will be sourcing some from Maplins tomorrow. I have tried several Boots and they don't have any. HTH

| Pure ethanol might do the job, should be able to pick that up from B&Q or similar. One of white spirits or meths will also work, but I can't remeber which one it is that works and which that doesn't (I think its meths wont work). Thats a backup if you cant get IPA (I thought that stood for India Pale Ale!!!!). Rob |

| I know nothing about cameras , but is this a "hot shoe "contact , could the blueing be caused by a high resistance across the contact surfaces with subsequent spark erosion of the surface?.

| £6 from Maplins for an aerosol can of the IPA. Dozzy bint behind the counter in the Swindon Maplins didn't even know what it was nor where it might be in the shop when I explained what it was used for... Squirted some IPA on the contacts and picked at them with a cut-down match stick to get the bits off, and flushed with more IPA. The contacts are now gleaming and waiting to go the Red Sea in 9 days time

| Oh, and when you are removing the leads from your strobe always make sure that strobe connectors are facing downwards otherwise any drops of water caught in between the two fall down onto the connector and will corrode them. |
