| Interval memory? I was looking on the Sea & Sea web site at this camera and noticed a term I'd not heard of before:- Interval Memory : 26MB Any opinions on the camera? I had sort of made my mind up about the FUJI F30 but I think I'd prefer something that is rated to 40 mtrs. The F30 is rated to 30 mtrs and this Sea & Sea one is rated to 50 mtrs.

| erm... I think it may be 'internal' memory. It has enough memory without a memory card/stick to keep a couple of low res pics in an emergency i think. My camera has it too.

| it'll be internal memory. it's the buffer size where the image is stored before writing to the card. writing the image to this internal RAM is much quicker than writing to SD card, so if you have a large internal memory you could shoot multiple images in quick succession without being limited by the speed of writing to card. This model has a couple of nice features over the DX5000/8000 models that it supercedes. Vibration correction - v. useful since it's often difficult to hold a camera steady for an unblurred shot when in current or poor light. I've binned quite a few images that look OK on the LCD screen of the camera, but once displayed on a PC monitor are blurred. The depth rating and the housing construction looks the same as on the DX5000/8000 models: 55m and very robust. Clear/frosted plastic for the majority of the housing enables easy spotting of any water ingress. The o-ring is also clearly visible and you can therefore see any trapped hairs that may cause a flood. Foolproof closure catch. Upgrade to 1 or 2 external strobes would be highly recommended. Like a complaint letter in one of the dive mags this month - most digital housings will cast a shadow from the lens port when shooting with the internal flash. Particularly annoying on macros. The internal flash is best used to drive an external strobe, which you can use to illuminate the subject better, position to avoid backscatter, and vary the power to complement the camera settings. PS: the other good feature of these cameras is the wheel on the front. When in a/m mode, this controls the f stop settings, enabling quick changes without having to go through menus and choose options. On my DX8000 it just scrolls between f2.5, f4.7, f8.1, and I vary this with the strobe power to suit the shot.

The Sea & Sea camera is in diver mag this week, it says its made by Ricoh, after a peep on there web site the camera is this one RICOH UK & Ireland - Products and lots cheaper than the Sea & Sea one, I came up witha price of £289 with the help of google. I wonder if you can just buy the sea & sea housing. ? I'll be checking tomorrow. G |

doubt it. when I bought the DX5000g I quickly found out it was a Ricoh camera, but was quite clearly told it was a package.... however, it's nice to know you can buy a backup camera on the cheap in the event of a catastrophic flooding
