| Is there any news on the V-cam or alternatives? Love to get one but like to see some footage before hand. I'm not the one to place a deposit unless there are big advantages, so far I don't any at all. Their website is weak with no mention of delays or footage.

| Now I have no doubt that all you experts at fings unnawata know what you're doing but I would suggest to you that brand new photographic technology, witness the delays already, is not, absolutely not, where people should immediately spend their hard-earned. Would you immediately do so for a brand spanking new Rebreather? No? Didn't think so. People - leave the technology alone until the early adopters have finished having their hissy fits and, this I promise you, there WILL be some, if not many, who will do exactly that.

| I understand that delays can happen, but to start advertising a product with many months before launch is frsutrating to the clients. Not mentioning the delay or any estimated launch date on their site is another error. I would like to get a Vee cam or something similar but will not pay a deposit unless there ia a big advantage. BJ, does the magazine have idea when it will test it?

| Well, I sent an email to them at the end of last year - 19th October actually asking for a copy of the sample DVD they claimed to be making. Today I received this email :- "Your message To: VeeCam Subject: Re: Video sample clips Sent: 19/10/2007 15:39 was deleted on 15/01/2008 12:08" What is going on there I have no idea, but it would seem that they have not bothered to see that I was a prospective customer. Maybe they are having development problems as another manufacturer gave up with the idea after first quoting around six hundred pounds for a head worn system that had not passed prototype at the time and then after discussion with the actuall makers of the digital recorder, the price had shot up to around ten thousand!!! - obviously a non starter! Anyway, in the immortal words of Dragons Den, "I'm out"

| This is not quite in the same league but a lot cheaper. No good for anything deeper then 30m and longer then 54mins but memory is cheap these days. I am sure I have seen a headband mount for it somewhere on the net too. If a get a spare £100 I might try one out. | I would like to try one and see one, I agree with Christian about the first things that come out. Rebreathers remain a high price because of relatively low sales volume, things like the Vee-cam will be of similar ilk in my view. That is if anyone else tries to make one. The quality will probably be acceptable for the masses, but when I take footage off my DV cam, I get roughly 1 minute per gb. And I'm not talking HD or wide screen, just standard DV, compression algorithms will shrink it but also lose quality. If you want a compressed video of dubious quality, with playback, use you compact digicam. Get a really big card, half fill it with Road Runner cartoons and watch them on deco, sorted If you want a cheap underwater camera system, do what Mdemon does, stick a camcorder in an old torch. |

| Were V cam at LIDS? Did anyone see Vcam at LIDS? Wondering if there is any news, weren't supposed to be ready around now?
