Maybe you should try there next time instead of Golf del Sur

Question

I have just come back from Gran Canaria and there were plenty of Angel Sharks there too! I thought they came in early January, so was very surprised to see them on this trip.
I am not sure what the bits of skin are for near the mouth? Does anyone know? Is it to lure fish in and then catch them?

HI,
I normally go to fureteventura Corralejo at christmas & have always
seen Angel sharks they would normally cover themselves in the sand
& wait for prey to get to close. I also think that they have not got very
good eye sight & the skin from the bottom lip are sensor barbs to pick
up any vibebrations.

Andy

Yes Nat, that is Las Galletas. We would have been on the same pontoon.

Jane,

Have another, closer, look at that pic. See that curious starshaped dark area immediately behind the (whole of) the Wobby's head? It has no place there and is certainly not part of the Wobby, I suspect that it might even be a Blue Ring Octopus in which case you have a pic indeed. Hope you kept the RAW image.

I believe that your wobbegong is Orectolobus tentaculatus.

Unfortunately not. I had only got the camera a few months earlier and was only shooting jpegs. I'll have to go back and have a another look at it and see if I can enlarge enough to see some more detail.

I think I see the bulb of the body of it (I've seen quite a few of them) on your web pic but that might be just me trying hard to create something out of nothing.

Whatever, it is not part of the wobbegong.
