Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a program out there which I can use to act like levels in Elements but on video to correct the lighting/colours?

There is or should be a genuine levels setting in the video filters or corrections adjustment in pretty well all "serious" editing programs - certainly Premiere 6.5 and Pro 2 and Premiere Elements plus EditStudio all have something of this kind. Just rummage carefully in the "video effects" controls... I'll admit that Windows Movie Maker can't

Thanks David, will have a rummage. My video attempts off my Fuji F30 are quite poor lighting and colour wise as I don't have a strobe and the internal flash doesn't work with video. What do you think of using on of the blue magic filters next time on video?

Don't see why it shouldn't work :-)

Whether I'm shooting stills or video, my mantra continues to be "manual white balance" above all - whether with or without a filter (and the Fuji F30/F31 have a v wide range of manual white balance, down to 20m in clear blue water will still balance). I even prefer manual white balance with the auto magic filters! One advantage of manual white balance (re-balanced every time you appreciably change your depth) is that colours ought to be consistent from shot to shot, for both stills and video.

Good luck! I must admit I've never tried video on the F30...

Just to follow up - I've done a few quick tests on some snippets of underwater video to show what can quickly be achieved through levels correction. If you're lucky, something useful can be extracted from even very green footage (if you're not lucky it goes all horrible); and even reasonably well balanced footage can be spruced up a bit. All done quickly in Premiere 6.5. Originals on a Sony SC100 or PDX10.

One old sample that shows the principle very well (original at 15m in UK on auto white balance):

Sony Vegas has colour correction and lighting balance.
