But that (noise) was exactly the same for the first generation of CCD and CMOS too in digital cameras, and now look where they are. Sigma are never going to sell as many cameras as Canon, so until one of the big two takes this technology on it might never be realised fully.

Here's a review - headline, slow and awkward to use, nice pics.

Unhappy

It looks like it is a non-runner then . Shutter lag and slow focusing just rule it out. It is such a pity. The almost 3d effect you get from the faveon sensor because it has no AA filter would look fantastic for a lot of applications, and I love prime lenses.

I will just have keep my fingers crossed and wait for significant firmware upgrades or the next generation.

Mmm, except my particular interest is wrecks, and they don't move much...

Still hopeful - I've read a couple of comments about the DP1 being slow, but I'd still like to try one for myself.

He didn't like it much did he! Looks like we will have to keep waiting for a camera that uses a decent sensor without the unnecessary encumbrance of a SLR .

Yeah, no! And Michael's opinions are usually well worth listening to, as well...

Amateur Photographer reviewed it this week. The conclusion was mixed - good quality pictures but very slow and the focusing is poor.

Overall it got 81%.
