    Don't think they are a regular occurance there though. In 3 years full time diving I saw 3. 1 in August 05, 1 in December 05, and then November 07.

    It's like the myth of the hammerhead shark breeding grounds perpetuated by a certain magazine

    well, i'm not ever going to win any prizes for my entry, but it was only my 9th dive, and I'd rented a camera 'cos I heard rumour that a Whale Shark was in town, so when I saw it, I was making sure I didn't do anything stupid (still a new diver), whilst trying to get in position for a good shot, and shit myself at the same time. I would have had a cracker, my dive was over and I was on surface and he (or she) swam up towards me and was literally a metres in front of me, head on, so I snapped the pic but some American toss post (new shiny matching kit, kicked my reg out my mouth for me on the dive) freaked out next to me and kicked camera out my hand. few minutes later... ready for same shot again and what happens, yankee doodle doo panics and swims off, but sticks his leg right in fornt of the camera as I took the picture. cnut. anyway, rant over...
