Thought I'd drop in a few pics from this weekends diving...Sound of Shuna, Loch Creran, and Loch Etive...
Sea Pen at Sound of Shuna (20metres)
Phosphorescent Sea Pen, Sound of Shuna (20metres)
And the big, long Seapen, at the same place. All three types of Scottish Sea Pens in the same location! Not only in Loch Duich anymore.
Difficult to get this one in the frame, it is two and a half feet long!
Here's another wee Phosphorescent pen, slightly different from the usual one.
Astropecten irregularis, starfish, fairly smooth top surface with "feathery" feet. Colours vary from Reddish-violet thro to yellows or sandy colours.Likes to stay partially buried in silty sand
Thornback Ray
Now in Loch Creran, a lovely wee Queenie
Small Spider crab on a worm colony
Quite a close-up shot of the Serpulid Worms feeding, their trumpet-like tube tops are quite visible. These protect the worms from predators when they are retracted into their tubes.
An awful lot of backscatter from the inbuilt flash. This colony is half a metre tall!
