Eddie,

I hate to break this to you but I think you might be a wee bit optimistic on the price - I've seen similar set-ups - with a larger selection of lenses - go for as little as £400 on ebay.

I reckon you might be better off splitting the bits and trying to sell them separately - and I'm not just saying that because I'm after a 16mm wide angle and a spare dual sync connector for myself at the moment - honest!

seriously though - there are collectors and MMII owners who will give you a very good price for individial bits - especially some of the liss common bits that you have - so that they can upgrade thier exisitng set-ups - myself and John Gulliver are prime mugs - er I mean candidates for this.

"The new guide to Sea & Sea" is really rare and can fetch a really good price on its own too - search for it on ebay and amazon and you will see copies changing hands for as much as £150 - £200

The dual sync connectors are pretty highly sought after as well as Sea and Sea have stopped making them (and I nabbed the very last one from their warehouse in Japan last month)

I have to agree with Toby about the price. The bottom has dropped out of the market for amphibious 35 mm cameras (MM II EX and Nikonos) due to the current digital hysteria. That's bad news for sellers but very good for those of us who still think you can't beat 35 mm film. Compare this personal ad currently on Divernet:

indeed prices are dropping through the floor - I flooded my old MMII and it worked out cheaper to get a second hand one off ebay than it did to get my old one fixed - plus I got a second 20mm lens, another ys50 strobe, a 3:1 macro, "the Complete Guide to Sea and Sea" book, a cleaning kit, a whole bunch of spare O rings and a very nice sturdy camera bag into to bargain.

the price ?

I'm almost embarassed to tell you......

£200

actually lets aleviate the doom and gloom -

for example Eddy - I reckon if you were to find an existing MMII user who wants to upgrade to twin strobes - and there's plenty of us about - I reckon you could easy get £200 for one Ys60, dual sync, dual strobe mounting tray and strobe arm - I certainly would have paid that much when I was looking to "twin up" recently

20mm wide angles are common as muck, but 16mm wide angle lenses are difficult to find second hand - so provided its in good nick you could ask around £100 - £120 - not a lot of people have the viewfinders either - so if you package them up you could get a decent price.

in short, you have go a few opportunities to get some cash back for your kit - but I genuinely think that you will get a better price if you split it

I recently paid just £73 for a MM II EX and YS60TTL strobe. I bought another YS60TTL strobe and arm and dual sync connector for £107.

Eddie - if you can get those prices for your kit in Holland then best of luck to you - I'll keep it in mind when I finally get rid of my motormarine and replace it with a housed SLR
