second hand Dry suit?

Hello all...
Looking for advice on making a decision between 2 drysuits.

I have £400 pounds for a suit.

The choice I must make is whether to buy a new Northern Diver Vortex suit from Go-dive at £349 plus postage.

The other option is a completely unused DUI 200CFse at £400 with uncut original seals Apex auto dump and inflator.
It appears to be in perfect condition - DUI sales labels in place still...!

It is owned by a buddy who bought it blind and then found he couldnt fit into it. The rub with the DUI and the reason for my hesitancy is that it was made in 1997.
I have heard that neoprene past a certain age should be avoided...?

Any advice appreciated.

Thumbs up Dude, DUI, Do it!

3D Dude,

if the DUI set up is as billed, then take the suit! Even if you have to replace all the seals on the suit - which I doubt strongly will be the case, if it hasn't been used since new, and even if it was manfactured in '97 -, you're getting a top quality suit for thruppence-ha'penny and bag of chips! Next question?

Good luck.

I have an old wet suit which I still use in moderately warm waters - bought in New Zealand in 1977! It's gone a bit stiff but it was never that flexible to start with and the stiffness is probably as much to do with infrequent use as age. I shouldn't worry too much about the age.

Just do yourself the biggest favour ever and stay right away from go-dive, trust me please when I say that if you require customer service you won't get any.

HI all,

thanks for the advice,

I plumped for the DUI suit... Cut the seals to fit and took it in the outside pool...
3'c.

What a suit!! not the slightest dribble through any seals. The most mobility I have ever felt in any suit.

Not sure that it won me any buddies at the club - a few green eyes when the news broke about the bargain basement £400 price tag..lol
